Join the College of Saint Rose MFA in Creative Writing program to celebrate the new book release by faculty member Hollis Seamon, who will be joined by debut novelist and Saint Rose graduate Dennis Mahoney on March 1 in Huether Hall, 994 Madison Avenue, in Room 200, from 5-7 p.m. Free food and drink will be provided.

Find the Facebook event page here. Both writers’ books will be available for sale at the event.

Hollis Seamon will be reading from her newest story collection, Corporeality, just out from Able Muse Press. Edward Schwarzchild, author of Responsible Men, writes, “Hollis Seamon’s enchanting stories will make you marvel anew at the forever strange, blessed, and heart-breaking affliction we share as human beings on this earth.

Seamon’s lovingly-rendered characters will linger in your memory for a long, long time.”

Also reading will be English alum and former student of Seamon’s, Dennis Mahoney, who will read from his first novel, Fellow Mortals. Just published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Fellow Mortals has been chosen as part of Barnes and Noble’s Discover New Writers for spring 2013.

Publisher’s Weekly writes that Mahoney “weaves together the patterns of a community… and depicts the aftermath of a catastrophe with an unwavering eye. A strong debut reminiscent of the novels of Stewart O’Nan.”
