Winners of The College of Saint Rose High School Essay Contest!

The English Department announces the winners for The College of Saint Rose High School Essay Contest.

The theme of this year’s contest is:
If you could share a meal with a fictional character, author, or filmmaker, who would this be? How has he or she affected your life?  What would you eat?  What would you discuss?

The winners for 2014-2015 are:
First Prize ($300.00):  “Dreams of a Detective” by Lisa Hladik of the Academy of the Holy Names

Second Prize ($200.00):  “My Lunch with Tyler Durden” by Sami Ahmad of The Doane Stuart School

Third Prizes: ($50.00 each):  “Anxiety and Insanity at the 76 Diner” by Dominick Vaughn of Shenendehowa High School and “Teatime with Anne” by Sarah Hummel of the Academy of the Holy Names

Congratulations to the winners!

The winners, their families, and their high school English teachers will be honored at an awards reception on March 15th.  Ninety-five submissions total were received.  Thanks to all who submitted and to the high school English teachers who encouraged their students to submit!
