Visiting Writer: Elisa Albert

ELISA

The MFA Program is proud to welcome our first visiting writer, Elisa Albert, to The College of Saint Rose. Albert is a short story author and award winning novelist. Her work has appeared in Tin House, Five Chapters, Lilith, Post Road and several anthologies.

Elisa’s first novel, The Book of Dahlia, was chosen as one of the ten best books of the year by Entertainment Weekly in 2008. The New Yorker wrote, “Albert writes with the black humor of Lorrie Moore and a pathos that is uniquely her own, all the more blistering for being slyly revoked.” She received her MFA from Columbia University and recently was a writer-in-residence at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study. Elisa lives in New York with her husband, Edward Schwarzschild and their four-year-old son.

Elisa’s collateral duties for this semester include: teaching an advanced fiction writing class on Tuesday nights, advising students on publishing and writing, and reading on campus. You can visit her at http://www.elisaalbert.com.
